How It All Began...
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR HISTORY, FOR YOUR INTRIGUE ONLY.
May 13, 2013
"PREPARING THE SITE AND POURING THE FOUNDATION"
On this day, the Club was formally established as a not-for-profit youth basketball Club in Ontario. The vision of the founders was to provide youth in South Etobicoke and Mimico with an affordable opportunity to learn, understand, and develop the knowledge and skills associated with the game of basketball in a friendly, respectful, and supportive environment and transform lives by teaching life skills through basketball that can also be applied in the real world.
In our first full season, we had one gym for one night per week. We were new to the area and the community, but nevertheless 14 families trusted us to teach their children the game of basketball. We are proud to say that many of the players have been regular participants ever since!
Season Two: 2014-15
"FRAMING THE SHELL..."
Our second season continued with what has now become tradition, skill development and competitive House League play! Thanks to great parental support spreading the word about our Club in the community and recognition in the local Etobicoke Guardian, our program doubled to 29 participants with a focus on the 8-12 age group.
This season, as in all seasons, the Club invested in the program by improving our jerseys and logo (see our media for proof!), purchasing an electric scoreboard, and playing the championship game in a bigger, better gym facility. Also, we introduced the Club's House League trophy which was won by Team Blue and still bears the names of all of the players and coach!
Season Three: 2015-16
"ROUGH PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, AND ROOFING..."
Year 3 began a new era! We received approval from the Ontario Basketball Association to have our first Rep team which permitted a select group of players to represent our Club in competitions throughout Ontario, Canada! The Rep team played at the Under 13 age group and had great exposure to high level basketball. Despite our young age and 2-18 record, each player developed skills and maturity throughout the year and even earned the Club's first medal, winning bronze at the MUMBA tournament!
Additionally, the Club partnered with Jr. NBA Canada to provide a program for boys and girls between the ages of 5-7 with age appropriate equipment, drills, and teachings. Our House League trophy was again won by Team Blue, but as you will see, their dynasty will be short lived...
Season 4: 2016-17
Steady growth and progress...we started at the bottom now we're here...themes that sum up the Club's 4th year. On the court, we had two Rep teams, U12 and U14. Both squads finished their seasons with a record of 6-18. While some would shy away from a losing record, we are proud of the development and sportsmanship displayed by both teams. Plus, tripling the win total from the previous year proves we are moving in the right direction. Also, the Club continued with the Jr. NBA program, Fall Skills Camps, and Winter House League with Team Red capturing the Gold medal after an undefeated season! We also started the Little Eaglets program for ages 5-8 that introduced game concepts, strategies, and scrimmages.
Off the court, we were fortunate to create partnerships and sponsorships that helped us on the court! First, we partnered with Under Armour to be our jersey supplier for our Rep program. Next, we received sponsorships from Fairgrounds Coffee (best coffee shop around) and GMP Securities. Oh, we also invested in a new logo...why? Because we are always trying to get better!
Season 5: 2017-18
"DRYWALL, PAINTING, WORKING ON THE INTERIOR"
What's in store for the upcoming season starting in September 2017? You will have to wait and see...
