The Restart - Game on!

2021-2022

Our 9th season (2021-22) started out a little rocky.  Schools were still not issuing permits but we were able to hold Rep tryouts and practice initially outdoors until moving all the Rep Teams indoors in November.  Thanks to Star Academy we were also able to resume our Fall Skills program twice weekly.

Finally our Rep teams were able to play again and each team had their shining moments throughout the season, including:

  • U11 Boys (2011-12):  10-8 Overall record with a Bronze medal in Div. 4.

  • U13 Boys (2009-10): Gold medal at Div. 6 Ontario Cup

  • U15 Boys (2007): Competed at Div. 3 Ontario Cup

  • U16 Boys (2006): Bronze at the PBAA Tournament

  • U17 Boys (2005): 16-11 Overall record.  CYBL Div. 2 Bronze winner and Ontario Cup Div. 2 (3-1 record)

  • U17 Girls (2005): Ontario Cup Div. 1 Silver Medalist

The Pause

2020-2021

Our 8th season (2020-21) started out like none other.  We were still in the midst of the pandemic and schools and gyms were all shuttered. But we still wanted to keep training our Competitive Rep players who were committed to improving despite the conditions. So we spent 10 months training outdoors (even in the not so pleasant weather!) and virtually as a team.  Players were also provided with individual training programs to work on their game.

Bigger & Better

2019 - 2020

Our 7th season (2019-20) started out by looking like our best!  All of our Jr NBA and House League programs were filled to capacity.   T hen in March 2020, the whole world came to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following public health measures, we had to put a pause on our season and did not get to finish our Winter House League or OBA leagues and championships. While we were disappointed, healthy and safety first!

Another Level

2018 - 2019

We exceeded our expectations for the 2018-2019 season.  Our inaugural  Girl's Rep team who played at the U14 level had a great season! We are proud of their commitment and team first attitude and the hard work paid off with a Bronze medal in Division 6 at the Ontario Cup!  Thank you to the coaches and parents that made the season a success and memorable!

In our Boys Rep programs we continued to build our skills from our Summer Skills camps and it showed as all of our boys teams jumped up numerous divisions from prior year, with all playing Division 7 or better.  Also, our senior rep players  gave back to our Club by volunteering to help the younger players in our Skills Camps and House League programs.

Finally, another season in the books for our House League and we decided to include the youngest ballers in the Junior House League 3 on 3 play. It was a fun and educational experience for all and team Gold captured the Gold medal!  In our Senior House League, interestingly, Team Gold also captured the Gold medal...indeed a Golden year for both teams!

Steady growth

2017-2018

Year 5 (2017-18 season) was filled with lots of memories and "firsts".  It was a season largely led by our oldest group of boys from the U15 rep team.  These role models finished the season 13-11, captured silver at Provincials and won our Club's first gold at the MUMBA March Break tournament.

We were also able to field competitive teams at 3 other age groups: U12 (9-15), U13 (6-22), and U14 (11-14).  In House League play, Team Maroon went undefeated at 25-0 (!) and won the Gold in the Junior Division, with Team Black winning the Senior Division.

In other news, the Club signed a partnership with Adidas to supply our team apparel and received generous assistance from local businesses, including California Sun Spa, ImageOn, Guerilla Printing, and Fairgrounds Coffee.

Start Climbing

2016-2017

During the 2016-17 season we formed two Rep teams (U12 and U14).  Both squads finished their seasons with the same record,  6-18.  We are proud of the development and sportsmanship displayed by both teams.  Plus, tripling the win total from the previous year proves we are moving in the right direction!  Also, the Club continued with the Jr. NBA program, Fall Skills Camps, and Winter House League with Team Red capturing the Gold medal after an undefeated season!

Off the court, we were fortunate to create partnerships and sponsorships that helped us on the court!  We received sponsorships from Fairgrounds Coffee (best coffee shop around) and GMP Securities.  Oh, we also invested in a new logo :)

Next Step...

2015-2016

Year 3 began a new era!  We received approval from the Ontario Basketball Association to have our first Rep team for a select group of players to represent our Club in competitions throughout Ontario!  The Rep team played at the Under 13 age group and had great exposure to high level basketball.  Despite our young age and 2-18 record, each player developed skills and maturity throughout the year and even earned the Club's first medal, winning bronze at the MUMBA tournament!

Additionally, the Club partnered with Jr. NBA Canada to provide an age appropriate program for boys and girls between the ages of 5-7.  Our House League trophy was again won by Team Blue, but as you will see, their dynasty will be short lived...

The Build

2014-2015

Our second season (2014-15) continued with what has now become tradition, Skill Development in the Fall and competitive House League play in the Winter!  Thanks to the great support from families spreading the word and recognition in the local Etobicoke Guardian, our program doubled to 29 participants.

Also, we introduced the Club's House League trophy which was won by Team Blue and bears the names of all of the players and coach!

THE ORIGINS

2013 - 2014

The Club was founded in 2013 in order to fulfill the need for an affordable and reputable youth basketball club in the South Toronto region (Mimico, Alderwood, Long Branch, New Toronto, and Etobicoke).

In our first year, we had a total of 14 participants, some of whom are still with our Club today!
